The Leisy family established a spectacularly successful brewery dynasty on the West Side of Cleveland in the last half of the 19th century.

Despite roots on the West Side of Cleveland and residences near the brewery, Otto built a mansion at the top of Fairhill Road east of what today is Martin Luther King Boulevard. While this residence was principally meant for summer recreation, the family built a 36 room estate on the 85 acres in 1905 to escape some of the “unpleasantries” of the burgeoning City of Cleveland.
