Drury was an Ohio landscape painter who explored the regions to the east of Cleveland. He favored a nearly square format for his work, as well as a characteristically low horizon line, which imparted a strong sense of space to his compositions, even when working in a relatively small format. He in known to have painted scenes of the Chagrin Valley.
